Working with and reading cookbooks all day is exactly as engrossing and tempting as it sounds. And, so far, thinking about food all day hasn’t lost its allure. Other side effects, however, have included dissatisfaction with one’s brown-bagged leftover lunch, drainage of paycheck to procure ingredients, and the vague sense of being in a food coma without having taken a bite. Oddly enough, the job that gives me all these great meal inspirations takes up most of the time that I would have to experiment. But, I’m not bitter.
Getting back in the kitchen last night felt good, and it was fun to share in the endeavor of this recipe. The salmon crisped beautifully; I didn’t go overboard with the sesame oil, and the carrot vinaigrette was surprisingly flavorful without any too-strong raw taste to it. It was all so fresh and light and summery; it made me feel overly pleased with myself for eating so healthy for this one meal. It’s definitely a keeper.
