Hopefully I don’t have a fever, but I have been battling this stuffy/congested/sneezy nose and watery eyes affliction all week. It’s fitting that today is the day of rest (and the only day that the cupcakery is close) because it looks like that’s all I’ll be doing.
Instead of trying to remember whether you’re supposed to feed this one and starve the other one, I always opt for feeding. Particularly with things that make me feel better all the time, like leftovers of the new dark chocolate I’d recently bought.
Oh, chocolate. I delight in that word. Hearing it, saying it, reading descriptions of it, watching movies about it (Chocolat, Willy Wonka, are there others?), and most of all savoring it.
I don’t know if I have a nuanced or educated palette or whatever it’s called, but I do love letting the chocolate slowly melt on my tongue and swirling around the resulting rich liquid, imagining that I am discerning different notes and tones.
I am developing more of a taste for the higher percentages of dark chocolate, too. This one was just 67% which I thoroughly enjoyed. You get more of a chocolate flavor and not just a sweet taste like you do with milk chocolate. But I’m not knocking the drugstore stuff, no indeed.
I think there are some Cadbury mini eggs in the kitchen too. They may not be full strength, but sometimes over-the-counter is all you’ve got.

Starting a new job usually takes time away from one’s leisure pursuits: reading, sleeping, throwing paper wads for your kitty to bat in the air, or updating your new blog about which you wayyyyy overthink. Starting a new job at a cupcake bakery in a town apparently crying out for small cakes topped with a disproportionate amount of icing…well, let’s just say that bathing becomes your new (and only) priority. That and sleeping. Working 10, 12+ hour days has definitely come as a surprise to me, and my muscular system.
One day soon I hope to share a photo or two of our little works of art, but currently I’m too busy making them, and my hands are usually covered with frosting or batter or both. Fighting the temptation to lick one’s fingers should be a medal-worthy event.
OH, look at the time. It’s 7:45. Goodnight.
